Four years had passed. They were done with “Friends.” It was over. It went out the year after Ross and Rachel had their baby. It went out on top; the “worlds number one show.” That year the show won it’s well deserved Emmy, and so did Jennifer. The show was still running in syndication throughout the world and still popular. The cast were still close to one another and could often be seen going to events in a group. They all sort of went into the movies and were doing fairly well. Courtney was now expecting her first child; a boy. She was very excited and Jen and Lisa were always there to help. Jen just had a number one movie come out, and was up for an Academy Award. She was really the only one to actually ‘make it’ into movies. David sort of stayed away from it all, but was always supporting Jennifer one hundred percent. Raylen was now four years old. She had blonde hair and blue eyes. The cutest little thing. Jen and David tried to keep her away from ‘Hollywood’, but at some points it was impossible.

That day it was beautiful: clear skies, sunny, 80’s. Santa Monica beach was full of people. Jen and David had found a quiet little place to sit down. Jen set Raylen down from holding her. David laid out a big blanket and set the cooler down.

Raylen : Mommy, I’m hungry!

Jennifer : yes, I know sweetie. Do you want peanut butter and jelly?

Raylen: yeah!

Jen: ok.

Jen takes out a sandwich from the cooler and hands it to Raylen. Raylen takes a big bite.

Raylen: (with food in her mouth) tank ew!

Jen: (laughing) you’re welcome pumpkin.

David (again, more laid back...) : honey, do you want anything?

Jen: no thanks; I’m not hungry yet.

David: well then I guess our daughter gets her appetite from me, cause I’m starvin’! What do you have for me (mocking Raylen) ‘mommy?’

Jen: you’re a big boy now; you can make your own sandwich.

David: meanie!

Jen: excuse me?

David: sorry.

He smiles at her and she laughs at him. He makes a puppy-dog face and she gives in. She takes out an already made sandwich from the cooler and throws it at him. He catches it and takes a big bite like Raylen.

David: tank ew!

Jen just shakes her head at him and laughs.

Raylen: mommy, I wanna go in the water.

Jen: already?

Raylen: yeah!

Jen: ok. Take your shirt off sweetie and let me put some sunscreen on you ok?

Raylen pulls her shirt off of her head, with some trouble. She has her bathing suit underneath already and she sits down on Jen’s lap. Jen starts to rub the sunscreen on Raylen’s back and shoulders. She puts some on her face too. She puts some on her self also.

Jen: ok, you’re done.

Raylen: let’s go!

Jen: one sec sweetie.

Jen starts to pull her shorts off and David cheers.

Jen/Raylen: David!/Daddy!

David: sorry girls!

Jen takes Raylen’s hand and walks with her down to the water. A wave comes up on shore and Raylen squeals as it hits her feet. Every time a wave comes near them, Raylen jumps as high as she can, jumping over it, and splashing back down. The next time she jumps, Jen picks her up.

Raylen: mommy, what are you doing?

Jen: this.

She blows on her stomach to make that farting kind of sound and Raylen giggles.

Raylen: (laughing) stop mommy! Stop! Mommy!

A flash goes off and Jen stops. She puts Raylen back down and turns around to see a man with a camera, taking picture of her and her daughter. It was one of those big ones, so she knew it was paparazzi.

Raylen: hey mister! What are you doing?

Man: well, aren’t you a cute little thing.

He’s about to take a picture.

Jen: will you please stop. She’s four for god’s sake. Will you please just leave us alone?

The man walks away.

Raylen: who was that?

Jen: no one sweetie, don’t worry.

Raylen: can we go into the water now?

Jen: yeah.

Raylen: carry me?

Jen: sure.

She bends down and lifts her up. David comes walking over to them

David: everything ok?

Jen: yeah.

David: are you guys gonna go in the water?

Raylen: yeah! Come in with us daddy!

David: now how could I resist that?

Raylen: you can’t!

David: you’re right.

They start to walks into the water. Jen stops when it’s up to her waist. Raylen’s feet are in the water.

Jen: it’s cold!

David: it’s not that bad.

Raylen: yeah mommy!

She kicks her feet, slashing water everywhere.

Jen: oh, that’s it. Daddy, get her feet!

David takes her feet and tickles them.

Raylen: no no no no! Stop, it tickles!!!

Jen: that’s the point.

Raylen: mommy, make him stop!

Jen gets an evil smile.

Jen: hold your breath Raylie, we’re going under!

Raylen: oh no!

She holds her nose with her fingers.

Jen: ready?

Raylen nods and Jen takes a big breath and, holding onto Raylen, goes under the water. She swims under David’s legs, and Raylen knocks him down. Jen comes up from the water.

Jen: you ok sweetie?

Raylen: yeah.

Jen: ok.

David comes up from under the water.

David: funny.

Jen: it was wasn’t it?

David: you’re in for it!

Raylen: it was mommy’s idea daddy! Don’t get me!

David dives under the water and gets Jen. Jen goes under, but holds Raylen above the water. David tries to tickle Jen, but she squirms away. They come up to the surface laughing.

David: oh you’ll get it tonight.

Jen: is that a threat?

David: could be.

Jen: well then…I’ll be ready.

She smiles at him and he smiles back at her.

Raylen: mommy, daddy, look! It’s Aunty Courty!

Jen and David turn around to see Courtney heading there way, waving.

Jen: let’s go say hi ok?

Raylen: yeah!

The start to walk back.

Raylen: down!

Jen puts her down and she runs the rest of the way out of the water. She runs up to Courtney and hugs her, getting her all wet. Jen and David laugh.

David: she’s a handful.

Jen: but so worth it.

David: definitely.

They turn towards one another.

David: thank you for making me the happiest man alive.

Jen: well thank you for making me the happiest woman alive.

David: she’s a great kid.

Jen: isn’t she?

They kiss and hug.

Raylen: (from the shore) mommy! Daddy! Come ON!!!

Jen and David break and look at their daughter. Courtney’s standing next to her smiling at them. Jen laughs and takes David’s hand, pulling him with her, out of the water. They join Courtney and Raylen and walk over to their blanket. Jen starts eating some of the grapes and lies down with her head in David’s lap. They’re all sitting there talking and laughing. The camera fades out on that scene. Raylen sits on top of Jen’s legs, Jen’s head on David’s lap, David looking down at them smiling, and Courtney looking at her two best friends and her favorite niece, smiling brightly.
